As Development Manager, your primary responsibility is to deliver finished product to the market and do what is necessary to achieve this within feature, cost, schedule and quality constraints.  For TRUE Fitness, that product is one of our premium cardio equipment consoles, each of which is a uniquely outfitted combination of hardware, embedded software, network connectivity components and external plastics.      This position will include managing the development team to ensure they are working as efficiently as possible and providing clear objectives, both short term and long term.  This position will be a working manager.

Responsibilities and Objectives

• Manage software and electrical engineering resources across multiple, concurrent projects
• Monitor, review and coach personnel, ensuring that development tasks align with business and technical objectives
• Oversee, clarify and organize all project activities using agile project management techniques
• Interact with all levels while leading and motivating cross-functional teams
• Facilitate and drive project scope and requirement clarity from key stakeholders
• Manage and track project KPIs in relation to the plan and published progress reports

Qualifications:

• 2+ years in a leadership role within a product development organization
• 5-10 years of software design and development experience, especially using the technologies referenced above; Experience with design and development of embedded systems and networking security concepts is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, team management, and organization skills
• Experience managing outsourced hardware and/or software vendors
• Strong Project Management background within a disciplined Software Development Life cycle (SDLC), with emphasis in agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
• Experience with tools for Software Configuration Management (SCM), team collaboration and defect tracking
• Proficiency in Project Management tools such as: MS Project, Atlassian Jira, Atlassian Confluence
• Familiarity with networking, data, wireless and connectivity technologies strongly preferred Web APIs, REST, JSON, OAuth, Bluetooth, ANT, Near-field, SQL, relational database and data mining concepts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio
• Identify, resolve and escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated to development initiatives
• Conduct stand-ups and retrospectives and ensure that the team is continuously learning from past experience

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in a technology-related field, such as Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
